Two Pakistani residents of New Jersey have been indicted for fraudulent voting in a federal election and false statements in citizenship applications.

– The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) provided critical support that led to the indictment of two Pakistani men for fraudulent voting in a federal election and false statements in U.S. citizenship applications. The U.S. Department of Justice announced this development and praised the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and USCIS for their contributions to the investigation.

According to the indictment, Muhammad Muzammar (37) and Muhammad Shailur (62) were not U.S. citizens when they registered to vote in New Jersey. Both men falsely declared they were U.S. citizens on their registration applications and signed an oath to that effect. Even after their registration applications were approved, they voted in the November 2020 general election without being U.S. citizens. This general election included the selection of the U.S. President and Vice President. U.S. citizenship is required to vote in federal elections.
